Yasunori Toshimitsu is a PhD student researching robotics at the Robotic Materials Department at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems and ETH Zurich in the Soft Robotics Lab. He is a PhD fellow at the Max Planck ETH Center for Learning Systems, a joint research center of ETH Zurich and the Max Planck Society.
His current field of research is to automatically generate robotic designs that are optimized for manipulation tasks, so that we can create more capable robots that strike the right balance between simplicity and dexterity. His research interests are design optimization, dexterous manipulation, reinforcement learning, and bio-inspired control.
